Pumpkin Carriage

Tonight, along with what's left of it, is the eve of my first day of joining society's workforce as one of its official citizens. I'm paralleling this post and this day to my Cinderella fairy tale. For those who know me, you very well understand me and the fact that I'm not one to compare life to a fairy tale, but I can't resist the simile as the clock nears midnight.
I'm ready to take employment by the reigns and add my contribution to this world; I guess regardless of whether or not my life's nick-free streak/gilded carriage will end and turn into a pumpkin, which is soon in season.
Speaking of seasons. I think I'm about to witness a legitimate autumn. The leaves are turning colors. What wonder!
My tenure here in Kansas City has lasted a whopping week and a half so far, and I'm looking to discover more; however, this time spent has found me reminiscing of friends, events, moments, places, foods, street names and whatnot fondly and wistfully. Details are still fresh, and the memories are mostly clear and dear. I know that all the counts of memories, little and small, have afforded me the distance that I've traveled (literally and figuratively) thus far. For this I have only and all to thank those who have graced me with their lives, laughter, smiles, heartaches, stories, thoughts and time.
As the minutes countdown, I should probably scoot to bed. I'm hoping a tried and true cure of good wine, good fruits, good pampering and good conversations will lull me to sleep. Wish me luck!

  1. Get to work, you slacker! I'm having trouble following my own advice. I know it's your first week, but when are you coming down for a visit?

Good luck on your new job!

  2. You need to find some place that'll hire you to simply sit and smile, maybe occasionally speak a bout of wisdom. Then never can anyone bestow slacker status on you ever again.

A trip to Austin will not be imminent for quite a while. Fear not, I have not left for good. A reunion tour will be underway someday!
